In creating the robin you will be exposed to more advanced techniques of goldwork including creating different layers of padding and a smooth essing. We will also work on the technique of Silk Shading.
We will begin by introducing the different types of padding used in Goldwork as these provide the foundations of the technique. We will develop both felt padding which is used to generate shapes but also string padding used for more linear work.
We will then learn how to stitch the silver passing onto the felt padding and how to create a finished edge with pearl purl.
During the second day we will embroider the Silk Shading to create the feet on top of the essing. To complete the design, the different essings will be embroidered to create the feathers.
You will be able to complete padding in different layers and have a working knowledge of the more advanced goldwork techniques.
Included as part of the class is a complete kit required for the class.
Please bring with you for the class: A round hoop, 8 or 10 inch (with a stand if you can, so that you can use both hands. If so, then wrapped with webbing around one circle to protect and maintain the tension of the fabric).
The class will allow you to develop at your own pace, with the opportunity for one to one guidance from the tutor due to the limited class numbers.
