London – Two days course: Goldwork Silver Bird
Goldwork has long been prized for its dramatic finish and the way that light reflects from it. This Silver bird design is aimed for an advanced student who would like to improve.
Historically used by the church for their ecclesiastic vestments and ceremonial robes as well as royalty throughout the ages. Goldwork was also adopted by the military to adorn dress uniforms and for banners, crests and badges.

Level: Intermediate/ Advanced
This two day course in London is pitched at an Intermediate/ Advanced level student who has already attended a Goldwork beginner class.
The first day will be used to stitch the paddings and apply the blue fabrics. The silver passing will be applied on top of the padding. The pearl purl will also be stitched at this stage.
Day 2 will involve learning the silk shading and essing techniques with the different types of purls.
The aim of this class is to learn how to complete padding in different layers and to have knowledge of the different stages of more advanced embroidery techniques.
Price includes the cost of £72 for the required kit with black duchess satin, light blue and turquoise fabric, white felt, bump, silver passing, rough and smooth silver purls, very fine silver pearl purl, brown and black purls, dark and light brown embroidery thread.
Please bring with you for the class: A round hoop, 8 or 10 inch with a stand so that you can use both hands. If so, then wrapped with webbing around one circle to protect and maintain the tension of the fabric), small sharp scissors (one pair to cut metal and one pair very sharp) and pins.
