Goldwork has long been prized for its dramatic finish and the way that light reflects from it. This Silver bird design is aimed for an advanced student who would like to improve.
Historically used by the church for their ecclesiastic vestments and ceremonial robes as well as royalty throughout the ages. Goldwork was also adopted by the military to adorn dress uniforms and for banners, crests and badges.

This class is pitched at an Advanced level student who already attended the Beginner and Intermediate class
Please note that to achieve a smooth transition into this class some pre-works are required including base padding and silver couching. The kit can be sent to you with the required instructions for the pre-work.
The first part of the day will be to review the pre-work and to apply the blue fabric. The padding will be applied onto the design to complete the base. The pearl purl will also be stitched at this stage.
The second part of the day will involve learning the silk shading and essing techniques with the different types of purls.
The aim of this class is to learn how to complete padding in different layers and to have knowledge of the different stages of more advanced embroidery techniques.
This class includes a kit with black duchess satin, light blue and turquoise fabric, white felt, bump, silver passing, rough and smooth silver purls, very fine silver pearl purl, brown and black purls, dark and light brown embroidery thread.
